Applications Open for 2016 Police Now Cohort
Today we open applications for the second Police Now cohort. You can apply here.
Police Now are determined to find the brightest and the best of the UK’s graduates. Once you’ve joined we’ll train and develop you in an intensive environment and after attending the Police Now Summer Academy you’ll be deployed where you can make the greatest difference to the communities who need us most on the policing frontline. For our 2016 cohort Police Now will be looking for between 100-110 individuals who can make a disproportionate impact in the communities that need great police officers the most.
The 67 police officers who make up the Police Now 2015 cohort really are a remarkable group of men and women. Throughout July and August they impressed those who visited the Summer Academy with their commitment and enthusiasm to make a difference. Since graduating only a month ago they have already started to have an impact on their Wards across London. We’ve heard of members of the 2015 cohort already leading operations to tackle drugs hotspots, planning operations and partnerships to reduce street prostitution and developing new techniques to interact with the public through social media.
Policing isn’t an easy profession and it certainly isn’t for everyone. The challenges that police officers face day in day out are as wide-ranging as those faced by any professional in any of the UK’s public services – and as our society changes those challenges aren’t going to get any easier. Sometimes it can seem as though every shift can present the worst and the best that humanity has to offer but there is huge privilege to know that you have made all the difference to someone’s life.
The intellectual and emotional challenges that graduates face in two years on the Police Now Leadership Development Programme will enable those who join to become remarkable leaders, providing a bedrock of experience that they will be able to draw on for the remainder of their careers – be that in policing or elsewhere in society.
The 67 members of the 2015 cohort are already making a difference to a million people’s lives. We can’t wait to meet the 100 men and women who are going to join them and make a difference to the another million.
Applications open today and will close on the 9th November 2015 for the 2016 cohort who will join the programme in July 2016.
