BBC Radio: Manchester’s Rookie Cops

National Detective Programme 2023

Anna, Beth, Louis and Saiyra documented their journey through Police Now’s National Detective Programme academy on BBC Radio Manchester, as they prepared to join Greater Manchester Police earlier this year.

Police Now’s two-year detective programme begins with a residential 13-week academy, which equips officers with the essential policing and investigative skills needed before they land on the frontline. Officers then continue the programme in force to become accredited detectives by the end of the programme, supported by experienced force colleagues and Police Now Performance and Development Coaches.
