For participants starting with Police Now in 2019, the programme curriculum will be underpinned by the new Policing Education Qualifications Framework (PEQF) Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP). The PEQF is part of the College of Policing’s work to further develop and professionalise the police service, by introducing a professional framework for the training of police officers and staff.
For the first time, officers who join the police service via the Police Now programme will receive a formal degree-level qualification, in recognition of completing the programme and achieving full operational competence in their force.
Police Now Programme Director Kurtis Christoforides said:
Professor Paul Bissell, Dean of the School in which the students will be based said:
The partnership will mean teaching for the 2019 cohort will be validated by the University of Huddersfield, and assessments submitted by participants will be marked and moderated at degree-level standard.
