Police Now rises 10 places in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers despite significant sector challenges
Wednesday 18th September 2024
Police Now has been named as one of the UK’s leading graduate employers for the seventh year running, this year rising 10 places in The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers to rank at number 33.
The Times Top 100 Graduate Employers is the definitive annual guide to Britain’s most sought-after graduate employers. This year’s rankings have been researched from face-to-face interviews with 14,271 final year students at 30 universities across the UK, conducted for The UK Graduate Careers Survey 2024. Students were all asked, ‘which employer do you think offers the best opportunities for graduates?’
Police Now has risen a total of 57 places since it first entered the rankings in 2018 – an achievement that is particularly notable given the significant challenges facing the policing sector in recent years, from the Coronavirus pandemic and public protests to stark reports on policing culture.
Despite this, Police Now continues to successfully attract motivated and passionate graduates who are eager to drive positive change. The latest cohort of Police Now’s National Graduate Leadership Programme received over 5,000 applications and the latest cohort of its National Detective Programme received over 7,000 applications – proving the brand’s ability to inspire individuals to contribute to transforming communities and policing culture.
As part of The UK Graduate Careers Survey 2024, Police Now was also recognised in the top five ‘Employers of Choice’ for the Public Sector.
Erik Rivas, Head of Employer Brand and Recruitment Marketing at Police Now, said: “Police Now is committed to attracting and training exceptional and diverse graduates into policing and supporting them to drive transformative change across England and Wales. We have worked hard to prove to graduates that a career in policing is not only full of exciting leadership and development opportunities but also crucial in tackling some of society’s most complex challenges.
“I’m excited that our efforts have been recognised for another year running in the highly competitive Times Top 100 rankings. This achievement highlights the strength of Police Now’s brand, our exceptionally hardworking colleagues, our partner forces who share our vision, and the brilliant graduates on our programmes who continue to build trust with their communities and break down stereotypes of what a typical police officer looks like.”
Police Now – the only national graduate programme into policing – has recruited over 3,000 officers into the service in partnership with 36 forces across England and Wales. Its two-year programmes provide graduates with a structured route into policing and equips them with the skills, knowledge and support to make a difference on the frontline.
Dedicated to driving innovation and diversity in policing, Police Now aims to break down the barriers that often prevent underrepresented groups from joining the service and to support its officers in becoming outstanding frontline leaders.
The organisation consistently recruits more diversity into policing than the service achieves nationally and typically recruits those who hadn’t previously considered a career in policing – delivering essential difference into the police service. Of the students who voted for Police Now in the Times Top 100 Graduate Employer rankings this year, 30% were from ethnic minority backgrounds and two-thirds were women.
